Through our commitment, experience, and expertise the Lean Manufacturing Consortium has established a business relationship with our customers that will last a lifetime!

The Lean Manufacturing Consortium (LMC) grew out of an idea that individuals and organizations were looking for a way to distinguish those who are part of the “5% that can actually make it happen” from the “95% who know what to do, but can’t make it happen”.

The Lean Manufacturing Consortium started in 1994 as the Wood Quality Network (WQN) by Dan. It was comprised of over 45 Companies in the wood and furniture manufacturing industry who were looking for a “best practices” source in how to effectively implement team-building; world-class quality systems; and highly flexible manufacturing systems.  For Dan’s work in this area, he was recognized by the State of Wisconsin in 1995 for this work and he acted as a consultant helping other companies continue to learn how to become world-class.

Over the next 6 years, Dan recognized the need for expanding the tools, concepts, training, and implementation approach that he had learned and were tested by in the “fires of the real world” to other industries. Thus the WQN became the Lean Manufacturing Consortium.

With the inception of the LMC, Dan began to offer a unique and leading-edge certification program for Lean Manufacturing.  This program combines academic training in Lean and Leadership, but also requires certified, real-world project applications with each module, to reinforce the training that reaps immediate understanding and payback.

A proctored, certification examination is required after the completion of the training and project work.  Over 450 individuals across the country have been certified by the LMC.
